The open air ceremony was attended by the president of the IBGE, Mr. Eduardo Rios Neto, and of the municipal secretary of health, Mr. Daniel Soranz, and also IBGE officials, including members of the board of directors, coordinators and enumerators.

Preliminary data were released on the enumeration test in the island, whose household collection was carried out between September 6 and 24. Secretary Soranz was granted a plate honoring him for the partnership between the Rio City Hall and the IBGE in Paquetá. Likewise, the health secretary gave president Rios Neto a celebrative plate and emphasized in his speech "the historical integrity and competence of the IBGE in the carrying out of essential population surveys for decision-making in the public sphere". The event was also supported by Mr. Luis Felipe Pinto, advisor of the Municipal Secretariat of Health, who dedicated himself actively in the design of the test in Paquetá.

It is worth mentioning that the released results are of a preliminary nature, since the collection processes and data treatment are yet to be adjusted. The IBGE will carry on the necessary process to release the final results as Experimental Statistics, i. e., those whose results are to be assessed in order to check the need for technical and methodological improvement to be implemented in the definite operation.

New tests uderway, in the 27 Federation Units

Starting on November 4, the IBGE will carry out new, large-scale tests in the 26 states and in the Federal District. All UEs are already at the final stage of preparations for the test-operations in each chosen city. Collection will take place both in capital neighborhoods – as Belo Horizonte, Macapá or Salvador – and in distant localities – as the riverside community of Novo Remanso, 200 km away from Manaus, or the municipality of Tigrinhos, nine hours away by car from Florianópolis.

In the Rio de Janeiro State, the municipality of Engenheiro Paulo de Frontin will receive the enumerators. Subnormal agglomerates and improvised households will also be visited in Nova Iguaçu (RJ) and in Indigenous and Quilombola areas in Angra dos Reis (RJ) and Paraty (RJ).
