The net sales revenue of Brazilian industry reached R$ 5.3 trillion in 2024, a result driven by the production of approximately 3,400 industrial products and services across more than 42,000 local branches. These data come from the Annual Survey of Industry – Product (PIA-Product), conducted by the IBGE.
The survey covered branches belonging to approximately 34,800 industrial companies and provides a detailed picture of the country's production structure, making it possible to identify the leading products in terms of revenue generation.
In 2024, crude petroleum oils remained the country's top industrial product, generating R$ 278.2 billion in net sales revenue—equivalent to 5.3% of the national total. This marked the third consecutive year the product held the top spot.
Next in the ranking were iron ores and concentrates, with net revenue of R$ 159.5 billion (a 3.0% share of the total), followed by diesel fuel, with R$ 149.8 billion in revenue (a 2.8% share). Other notable products in terms of total share included fresh or chilled beef (2.0%) and motor gasoline or for other uses, excluding aviation (1.7%).
Combined, the top ten products accounted for 20.9% of the industry's net sales revenue.

Regional concentration of industrial activity
Regional analysis indicates a concentration of industrial activity in the Southeast, which accounted for 55.3% of net sales revenue in 2024. In addition to being the country's most industrialized region, the Southeast is home to the nation's largest petroleum basins (Santos and Campos), major petroleum refineries, and the "Iron Quadrangle" (*Quadrilátero Ferrífero*) in Minas Gerais.
"The Southeast stands out in particular. The region produces three key products—out of a total of 3,400: crude petroleum, diesel fuel, and iron ore. These goods accounted for 15.1% of the Southeast's total revenue in 2024," stated Marcelo Miranda, the survey manager.
The revenue shares for each of these leading products in the Southeast were: crude petroleum (9.2% of the region's total), diesel fuel (3.0%), and iron ore (2.9%).
The South Region, ranking second in total share, accounted for 20.5% of industrial revenue, with notable contributions from diesel fuel (3.3%), frozen poultry meat and offal (3.0%), and NPK fertilizers (2.1%).
In the Northeast, which accounted for 9.8% of national revenue, the leading products were diesel fuel (4.5%) and motor gasoline (3.1%). Meanwhile, the North Region, with a 7.4% share, showed a high concentration in metallic mineral mining (18.2%), as well as beef (5.3%) and mobile phones (5.2%).
Finally, the Central-West accounted for 6.9% of industrial revenue, driven by agricultural products such as beef (11.4%), soybean derivatives (6.1%), and ethanol (5.6%).
