With rise in materials and workforce, construction prices change 0.46% in April

The National Index of Civil Construction (SINAPI) changed 0.46% in April. The rate is 0.11 percentage points (p.p.) higher than the index registered in March (0.35%). The cumulative index in the last 12 months stayed at 4.74%, above the rate of 4.69% registered in the immediately previous 12 months. The data were released today (9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The national cost of construction per square meter changed from R$1,810.25 in March to R$1,818.64 in April, of which R$1,046.66 were relative to materials and R$771.98 to workforce.
The share of material changed 0.31%, dropping 0.04 percentage points in relation to March (0.35%) and rising 0.20 percentage points against April 2024 (0.11%).
On the other hand, workforce changed 0.68%. "Influenced by collective work agreements signed, the share of workforce rose 0.32 percentage points in comparison with March (0.36%). In contrast, it dropped 0.15 percentage points in relation to April 2024 (0.83%)" explained Augusto Oliveira, the manager of the survey.
Northeast Region reports the highest monthly change in April
Influenced by the rise in Bahia, which signed a collective work agreement with the professional categories, the Northeast Region registered the highest regional change in April (0.74%). The other regions showed the following results: 0.25% (North), 0.37% (Southeast), 0.42% (South) and 0.26% (Central-West).
Bahia records the highest rise in April
With a rise in the share of materials and collective work agreements signed, Bahia was the state that recorded the highest rate in April (2.32%).
