Registrations for the Postgraduate Program in Population, Territory and Public Statistics of the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE) of the IBGE were extended until October 4th. Twenty places are offered for the master's and 10 for the doctoral program, with the possibility of obtaining scholarships from Capes and from the IBGE. The courses are rated 4 in the Ministry of Education's assessment system. Entries are free and must be made exclusively on the ENCE's site.

Registrations for ENCE’s postgraduate programs opened on August 25th. The entire selection process will be carried out online due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. The selection will have three eliminatory stages: document checking, CV and work plan or pre-project evaluation, and individual evaluation of the candidate by video conferencing.

“The online Individual evaluation will take place from November 16 to November 26 and will consist of an oral test based on the indicated bibliography indicated in the notice and of an interview.  There will be, therefore, no written exam, following last year’s procedure”, explains ENCE’s Postgraduate coordinator, Ms. AngelitaAlves de Carvalho. She also emphasizes that the course requires full time availability.

Final results will be announced on December 6. Pre-enrollment of approved candidates will also take place on the Internet, on December 13 and 14. The school year is scheduled to start in March 2022. “Classes in 2021 are being given remotely. We have no indication from the Ministry of Education (MEC) for next year’s classes. We hope to return in person, but there is no established date for that”, said Ms. Carvalho.

The Postgraduate Program in Population, Territory and Public Statistics prepares researchers and professionals for developing research and teaching activities, enables them to create and apply theoretical approaches as well as methods for analysis of socio-spatial processes and for producing information and public statistics to enhance knowledge on population, territory and its dynamics.

The program has two lines of research: Population, Territory and Living Conditions and Production of Public Statistics. The former studies the populational and territorial dynamics and the population’s living conditions, comprising social, economic and environmental aspects. The latter analyzes the planning and conduction of censuses, sample surveys and administrative records used to produce public statistics on the populational and territorial dynamics and the living conditions of the population.
