Study shows entreprises that grew regarldless of the crisis

Of the 30,939 high-growth enterprises, those that registered an average growth of 20% in employment during two consecutive three-year periods, 12.8% (3,965) remained resilient in face of the economic crisis in 2014. Such enterprises, which had already been expanding, grew 20% or more in 2015, despite the downturn. This information comes from the Statistics of Entrepreneurship, an annual survey that assesses the performance of high-growth enterprises, released today by the IBGE.
In an unprecedented study, the survey unveiled that resilient enterprises generated R$121.2 billion in net revenue and hired 255,167 professionals in 2015. They were mainly concentrated in the sectors of information and communication (19.8%); financial, insurance and related services activities (19.3%); administrative activities and complementary services (17%); education (16.6%); and human health and social services (16.2%).
"The investigation of resilient and high-growth enterprises in general is important to underpin public policies that foster job generation in the economies", highlights economist Isabella Nunes, in charge of the survey.
High-growth enterprises generate 2.2 million jobs in 2015
According to the survey, high-growth enterprises, either the resilient or non-resilient, generated 2.2 million jobs between 2012 and 2015, accounting for 67.7% of the job openings in this period in Brazil. The number of employed persons changed from 1.3 million in 2012 to 2.5 million in 2015, an increase of 172%.
Regardless of the positive figure in this segment, Brazil lost about 292 thousand job positions between 2012 and 2015, since only 1% of all the active enterprises in Brazil were qualified as of high growth.
