IBGE participates in the 78th Annual Meeting of SBPC; invites public to know its activities

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will be present at the 78th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC) and the Expo T&C Fair, which will be held from July 26th to August 1st, 2026, at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), in Niterói (RJ).
Considered the largest scientific meeting in Latin America, its central theme will be “Science for all: sovereignty, development and inclusion.”
The expectation is to bring together 50 thousand participants from all over Brazil, such as researchers, students, teachers and representatives of scientific institutions from different areas of knowledge to debate, based on dozens of conferences, round tables and special sessions focused on themes central to the future of Brazil, such as artificial intelligence, industrial development, science financing, climate change, biodiversity, public health, scientific education, social justice and integration between universities, the productive sector and society.
The president of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, said: "IBGE's participation in the 78th SBPC Annual Meeting will allow the presentation of statistical and geographic information produced by the Institute and promote exchange with researchers, students and institutions that participate in the event."
During the event, the IBGE will have a space dedicated to presenting its activities, products, publications, platforms and statistical and geographic information produced by the Institute.
The SBPC Annual Meeting has been held continuously since 1949 and, with each edition, it transforms public universities into meeting spaces between science and society.
Participation is free and open to all audiences. There is a charge only for registration in short courses and web minicourses, optional purchase of event material and presentation of approved work in the Poster Session.
