Rio de Janeiro will host, next Tuesday (12), the 22nd state dissemination seminar of the SDG Brazil Award. The event was created to acknowledge good practices that contribute to reaching the targets set for the sustainable development of the 2030 Agenda, coordinated by the United Nations.

The event is free and registration is open. It will be held in the Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination of the IBGE, with the presence of president Roberto Olinto Ramos and representatives of the Government Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), of Furnas and of other institutions related to the topics of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Through the seminar, the IBGE, as a member of the National Commission for SDGs, seeks not only to disseminate the award and the sustainable contributions already made, but also to strengthen the debate around the 2030 Agenda, which affects not only the government, but also society as a whole," said Denise Kronemberger, coordinator of the SDGs at the IBGE.

Until June 29, companies and public and private organizations can register projects of sustainable economic development, social responsibility and environment in the award, which has as a slogan "You do it. Brazil recognizes it. The world gets better." The registered projects, which must have been implemented for at least one year, will be evaluated according to the results generated, the participation of the beneficiaries, replicability, existence of partnerships, convergence with public policies and adherence to one or more of the 17 SDG.

The three top institutions in each of the four categories (governments, for-profit organizations, non-profit organizations and educational, research and extension institutions) will receive a symbolic award at a ceremony to be held this December in Brasilia (DF).

According to the National Secretary of Social Articulation, Henrique Villas, the SDG Brazil Award has as its main objective to build a bank of sustainable practices. "The initiatives will certainly be a reference for future projects, especially for small municipalities. We also sought to make the award democratic, so much so that it comprises from large corporation practices to small projects of municipal schools", he said.
