The IBGE president, Roberto Olinto Ramos, participated, this Tuesday (09/26), in the opening session of the II Meeting of Information Producers aiming at the 2030 Agenda. The event, which ends tomorrow (09/27), is being held in the National School of Public Administration (Enap), in Brasília. The objective is to go on with the debate about the construction of the indicators related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Eight entities representing the Civil Society integrate the national Commission of the SDG, created by Decree no. 8,892/2016, aiming at internalizing, advertising and contributing with transparency to the implementation process of the 2030 Agenda. There are 17 work groups, one for each goal, coordinated by IBGE representatives. Until tomorrow, thematic sessions will have been held for each one of the groups.
In his speech, Olinto thanked everyone present for sharing their knowledge and expectations on the 2030 Agenda. "What matters the most is to strengthen good practices: coherent, harmonized, integrated information to be used with no difficulties.” He emphasized the key role of the SDG Commission in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. “The international discussion was not simple and we need to think nationally. We need the cooperation of everyone, because the agenda covers a lot of issues. I hope this meeting is productive”, he claimed.

Gaetani highlighted the importance of the IBGE in the SDG Commission. “The IBGE is a prestigious institution, which is part of Brazil. It is important to emphasize the central role of the IBGE and the Government Secretariat in this process. The agenda establishes a dialogue with everything the country does. It is an infinite task, which helps organize many speeches."
Rodrigo Cota insisted on the need of database sharing and emphasized he ole of the data analysis platform GovData, launched by the Federal Government, an environment through which administrative bodies of the federal Government will be able to access the database from several bodies and cross them. As a result, the MPDG “hopes to better identify citizens, provide better services, with the least bureaucracy possible, and more efficiency and effectiveness in the assessment of public policies and programs”.
“In order to work with the SDG, the institutions will have to think outside the box", says Henrique Villa. Also the executive secretary of the commission, he explained that "tasks will be not be finished if they are dealt as an individual job. There is no other way to work strategy than group work. This is a crucial event because it gathers a good amount of information producers. The IBGE daily effort becomes fundamental. The Commission is privileged to have both the IBGE and the IPEA in the discussions”, he concluded.
