In spite of that, industry in the state is still 20.4% below the output level observed in January 2010.

According to researcher Rodrigo lobo, from the IBGE's department of Industry, the growth in Ceará, in May, was mainly influenced by three sectors: petroleum derivatives and biofuels, apparel and accessories and leather articles for traveling and footwear.

The results of the Monthly Survey of Industry, May edition, show increase of output in 10 of the 14 areas surveyed, besides Ceará, São Paulo (2.5%). The latter represents one third of the national industry and increased due to results of food and motor vehicles industry.
