These results are from the Monthly Survey of Trade, released today (september 14) by the IBGE.

“What we have seen was a less intense Black Friday in terms of volume of sales than that in 2020, when the promotion period was better, mainly for the bigger retail chains,” says the survey manager, Cristiano Santos. “That was partially due to inflation, but also to a change in the consumption profile, ince some purchases were concluded in October or even in the first semester, when there was more availability of credit and the phenomenon of discounts. That caused the Black Friday to happen in advance for some chains.”

In extended retail trade, the increase of 0.5% in volume of sales, in November, was influenced by vehicles, motorcycles, parts and pieces (0.7%) and construction material (0.8%), after the negative results of the previous month, -0.4% and -0.8%, respectively.
