The National Index of Civil Construction (SINAPI), released today by the IBGE, increased 0.42% in January, a result higher than the 0.22% of December 2018. The increase was influenced by the increase in the value of labor force, which rose 0.68%. In the last 12 months, inflation in the sector has totaled 4.56%.
According to the survey analyst, Renata Estrella de Los Santos, January result is mainly due to three collective bargaining agreements. One of them promoted salary increase in Minas Gerais, which presented a change of 2.62%, the highest among the states.
“As the Southeast has a great weight in the calculation of the national index, Minas collective agreement helped increase the result this month”, explains the IBGE analyst.
In the analysis by Major Regions, the Southeast grew 0.83%, while the lowest rate was observed in the Central-West, with 0.08%. The other regions had the following results: 0.12% (North), 0.18% (South) and 0.19% (Northeast).
Among the other indicators, the national cost of construction per square meter, which in December 2018 was R$1.113.88, went in January to R$1,118.60, of which R$580.41 related to materials and R$538.19 to labor force. Despite the increase in the value of labor force, the share of materials decreased in relation to December and January 2018, with a monthly change of 0.19%.
