The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics releases the Brazilian Statistical Yearbook (AEB) this Wednesday, 8, in digital space. It is the second consecutive year in which the AEB is released digitally, redesigned in hotsite format, on the IBGE portal, and not in its traditional printed configuration.
Isabela Torres, manager of Information Retrieval at the IBGE's Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination, explains that “since 1908, the AEB presents an overview of Brazil through tables, graphs and texts, in its territorial, environmental, demographic and socioeconomic aspects. The information disclosed is produced by the IBGE and other organizations and institutions that produce information. The transition to the digital environment in 2024 represented a milestone in its history, making the publication more accessible and interactive for researchers, journalists, students and citizens."
The Yearbook covers results from a number of surveys such as the Population Census, Vital Statistics, Annual Survey of Industry (PIA), selected agricultural statistics, information from the Central Registry of Enterprises (CEMPRE), monthly retail sales indexes, as well as the main macroeconomic aggregates of the System of National Accounts (SNA), among many other indicators.
The manager adds that this edition “continues to present updated information on the characterization of the territory, the Hotsite includes a glossary with the concepts investigated in the surveys that support it and standardized references of the sources referenced. The consolidation of the AEB in digital format in 2025 successfully concludes the transition from a printed historical publication to a modern digital tool, reinforcing its fundamental role in the dissemination of essential information for the knowledge of the Brazilian reality and for the exercise of citizenship.”
