With a 56% increase, the stock of corn presented the highest proportional increase in relation to the first half of 2016, totaling 13 million metric tons. In the same period last year, the stock registered was of 8.4 million metric tons. These data are from the Survey of Stocks, released today by the IBGE.

Besides corn, four of the main products had a high. The stock of soybeans represented the greatest absolute volume: 34.9 million metric tons, representing an increase of 47.2% over the the same period in 2016. Wheat, on the other hand, presented a stock of 2.4 million metric tons; rice, 4,9 million and coffee, 898.4 thousand metric tons, increases of 55.2%, 29.4% and 7.3%, respectively.

"Good weather conditions favored the high grain crops, as corn and soybeans", highlights the manager if the survey, Adriana Mendes. The high in stocks is also explained by the market production logic. "In general, part of the crops is traded beforehand in order to fund the acquisition of inputs and the producing process", she claims.
