Due to the measures of social distancing to control the Covid-19 pandemic, the entire selection process will be online this year and there will be no written tests. According to César Marques, ENCE´s coordinator of Post-Graduation, this is the first time that it happens.

"Anyway, the same rigor of previous selections will be maintained. To do this, the profiles of the candidates, recommendation letters, the understanding of the bibliographic outputs contained in the public notice and the capacity to produce a work plan or research project in the program area will be analyzed," said Marques, reminding that the course requires full dedication of the student.

Enrollment is free and should be done exclusively on the Internet and the documentation sent through email. The selection process will comprise the evaluation of documents and an interview through video conference, to be held between November 9 and 19. The final results will be released on December 1st. Pre-registration of the approved candidates will be also online on December 14 and 15. The beginning of the academic year is scheduled for March 2021.

"Due to the pandemic, ENCE courses are being carried out remotely until the end of 2020. According to the rules of Capes and the Ministry of Education, however, the course is approved in the face-to-face format. On-site classes will return when students, teachers and workers feel safe," added the coordinator.

The Post-Graduate Program in Population, Territory and Public Statistics prepares researchers and professionals to perform activities of research and teaching, able to develop and apply theoretical approaches, models and methods for the analysis of socio-spatial processes, as well as to produce public information and statistics that deepen the knowledge of the population and territorial reality and its dynamics.

The program has two research lines: Population, Territory and Life Conditions, and Production of Public Statistics The first line studies the dynamics of the population, territory and life conditions of the population, encompassing social, economic and environmental aspects. In the Production of Public Statistics line, the focus is on planning and carrying out censuses, sampling surveys and administrative records used to produce public statistics on the population and territorial dynamics, as well as life conditions of the population.
