After a 10.1% decrease, the industrial output in Bahia grew 7.2% in July against the previous month, according to the Monthly Industrial Survey - Regional Production (PIM-PF Regional), released today by the IBGE. It was the highest positive rate in the 14 places surveyed. In the comparison with July 2016, the industry in that state recorded a high of 7.7%. The positive result was leveraged, to a great extent, by the sectors of petroleum and biofuels, of motor vehicles and paper and pulp.

In the cumulative index in the last 12 months, Bahia also presented a pace gain between June and July, from -8.6% to -6.4%, respectively. According to IBGE analyst, Rodrigo Lobo, the growth is linked to the low basis of comparison: "The sectors that negatively pressed the industry of Bahia in 2016 and in the first half of 2017 were the main responsible for the positive rates in July", he says.

In addition to Bahia (7.2%), the positive highlights were the Northeast Region (3.2%), Pará (2.3%), Paraná (2.3%), São Paulo (1.7%), Santa Catarina (0.7%) and Goiás (0.4%). The drops were in Espírito Santo (-8.3%), Rio de Janeiro (-5.9%), Amazonas (-3.1%), Rio Grande do Sul (-1.5%), Minas Gerais (-1.0%), Ceará (-0.7%) and Pernambuco (-0.2%).
