The North Region leads the change of civil construction per square meter registered by the National Index of Civil Construction (SINAPI) in September, released today by the IBGE. The area presented a change of 0.66%, more than twice as much as the national index, of 0.27% in the same period. In the year, the indicator accumulates 2.98% of high in the country, with a 4.25% increase in the last twelve months.

In Brazil, the average cost of the square meter built in September was of 1,057.99, of which 539.52 are relative to materials used and 518.47 from the expense with labor force.

The cost rise in the North Region was influenced by the collective bargain of the sector in Pará, which increased the expenses with labor force in the state. It was one of the reasons why the region had the highest change rate in the country in September (1.47%).

“As to the change in labor force, a significant growth occurred just in the state of Pará, where there was a collective bargain.  It is a state with little impact on the national index. As we have been having a greater amount of collective agreements in the other months, this rate was the lowest one in the last six months”, says Augusto Oliveira, IBGE researcher.

Therefore, the cost of materials, the other component of the indicator, had the greatest impact in the national index. That was mainly due to the increases in Acre, Bahia, Federal District, Ceará and Maranhão, most of which registered highs in the expenses with the segment related to cement.
