Influenced by the annual price adjustments of medicines, the Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 - IPCA-15 of May stayed above that registered in April (0.21%).
The medicine prices rose 2.08% as a result of the annual price adjustment, in force since March 31. The percentage of the raise swung between 1.36% and 4.76%, according to the type of medicine. In the same period, the group of wearing apparel (0.74%) also recorded a high price change.
On the other hand, transportation dropped 0.40%. Items like airfare and fuel even fell 11.42% and 1.12%, respectively. Among food products, potatoes (16.08%), tomatoes (12.09%) and onion (9.15%) became more expensive. Soybean oil (-5.81%), crystallized sugar (-3.03%), fruits (-2.73%) and carioca beans (-2.52%) reduced their prices.
