The National Conference of Data Producers and Users (CONFEST/CONFEGE) has a consolidated international program as a highlight of its current edition taking place between December 3 and 5 in Salvador, Bahia.

The objective of having international panelists is to deepen the debate on the production of statistical and geoscientific information, gathering experts and partner institutions from different parts of the world. The initiative aims at strengthening technical cooperation and enhancing the exchange of experiences among countries that face similar challenges collecting and analyzing data.

The president of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, stresses that “the international participation at the Conference reinforces the compliance of the IBGE with the best global practices, expands Brazil's projection in the statistical diplomacy, fosters institutional learning with access to innovative methodologies and technologies and opens the door for strategic cooperation and funding. As a result, the conference becomes a decisive space to consolidate the role of the IBGE as a modern agency, connected with the global statistical agenda, as a protagonist.

The CONFEST/CONFEGE reinforces its role as a place of cooperation and exchange, consolidating  Salvador as a stage for strategic debates  on statistics and geosciences in the international scenario.

Andrea Diniz, International Relations Manager at IBGE, highlights that “the Conference is consolidating itself as a space for exchange with our colleagues around the world, and this is important because it helps us to reflect on common challenges and also on best practices in addressing these challenges. The strong presence of statistical institutes from Latin America will strengthen South-South cooperation, which is so relevant for improving the processes of producing statistical and geospatial information.”
