IBGE launches today the pre-test of the Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture in events in COP30 and in Salvador

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will launch, today (17), the pre-test for the 12th Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture, the main statistical survey on agricultural and mining and quarrying production in Brazil. The announcement will take place at two places: during COP-30, in Belém (PA), and at a combined event in Salvador (BA). For the first time, the survey will include information about the 28 segments of traditional peoples and communities,  and increase understanding about the territories and modes of production found in the rural part of Brazil.

Also in November, the IBGE will start the first pilot test for the Census of Agriculture, which encompasses six municipalities in different Major Regions and biomes. This step will be essential to assses how clear the questionnaires are, in order to guarantee the methodological innovations will provide a thorough portrait of the rural reality in Brazil. Among the topics surveyed are production of food, profile of workforce, territory occupation patterns and mining and quarrying and aquaculture activities.

The event in Salvador will have presentations of the basic Census project and operating aspects of the first pilot test. In COP-30, in Belém, the launch will be integrated to the ceremony of National Sustainable Development Plan for Traditional Peoples and Communities.
