The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released, on Wednesday (5), in Aracaju (SE), the results of the 2022 Population Census: Nuptiality and Family: Preliminary sample results. The event was held at the Prof. Jouberto Uchôa Memorial in Sergipe, in the capital of Aracaju, and streamed on the IBGE Portal, in the Digital IBGE section. The recording can be watched here. The results can be accessed in the news about Nuptiality and in the news about Family, from the IBGE News Agency.
The event was attended by the IBGE Director of Surveys, the IBGE Superintendent in Sergipe, Fábio de Albuquerque, and the Deputy Technical Coordinator of the Population Census, Bruno Mandelli Perez. Also participating in the public press conference were the Memorial's historian, Silvia Maia, the public defender Carolina D'Ávila, and the representative of Fecomércio, José Raimundo. The technical presentation was handled by analysts Marcio Minamiguchi and Luciene Longo.
Junger opened the event by thanking all IBGE employees for their participation in the production of the 2022 Population Census. “This event follows the premise of reaching all the Major Regions in Brazil. Even though the Institute's headquarters are in Rio de Janeiro, we have traveled all over the country to disseminate the Census data, a very complex operation that faced several budgetary challenges, problems with fake news, and also took place during the post-pandemic period in Brazil. Now it is time to celebrate because of the return of such information to Brazilian society,” emphasized the Director of Surveys.
Following this, Superintendent Fábio de Albuquerque stated that it was “a pleasure to host such an important event in our state. We thank the IBGE team from Sergipe for the organization and the Memorial for the partnership in this endeavor.”
Representing the Memorial of Sergipe, Silvia Maia expressed her satisfaction in hosting the IBGE. “An organization that provides a great service. This Memorial is a space that preserves and tells the history of this state.” She further explained that the site is maintained by the Institute of Technology and Research (ITP) and conceived by Jouberto Uchôa, rector of Tiradentes University (Unit).
The event brought together 70 participants in person – including researchers, students, staff, and journalists – and hundreds of online viewers via the IBGE YouTube channel.
The results are available on the IBGE portal and on our IBGE System of Automatic Retrieval – SIDRA. The data cover Major Regions, States and Municipalities.
A Practical Workshop for Students and Researchers
Following the event, the Institute promoted the workshop “A Territory of Information: Potentialities of the 2022 Census Data,” which aims to present, in addition to the technical and operational aspects of the research, its potential for decision-making by local managers.
In the free workshops led by Bruno Mandelli Perez, Luciene Longo, Marcio Minamiguchi, Marco Antônio Guimarães, and Luiz Felipe Barros, participants were able to delve into the innovations of the 2022 Census, ways to access the results, and practical activities.
