Registration is open up to July 31 for the Distance Learning course Program Population Census for public management, produced by the IBGE’s National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), in partnership with the Integrated Center of Network Education (CIAR), of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG).

Free registration is available at: https://eadmin.ciar.ufg.br.

This series of Distance Learning trainings is directed to external audiences and has the objective of disseminating public statistical information that can foster the debate about problems, demands and priorities of Brazilian society.

“The program intends to facilitate and enable municipal managers and technicians to make use of 2022 Census information for the next pluriannual planning and to best define public policies,” says Paulo de Martino Jannuzzi, general coordinator of ENCE, who added that “the training will allow public managers to learn more about the economic characteristics of the productive base, and of the labor markets for local development projects and plans for strengthening the environmental issue in the municipal agenda.”

A total of 500 vacancies will be available for “Concepts and applications of the Population Census in public policies”, mainly directed to public administration managers and technicians and municipal and state levels (with 40 vacancies reserved for Rio Grande do Sul alone); civil servants from the IBGE; the academic community (professors, students and researchers); and members of social movements. And in case the number of applicants exceeds that of vacancies, a waiting list will be created for new rounds. A list with the enrolled participants will be released on August 2, at: https://ence.ibge.gov.br/index.php/2013-05-17-20-14-48/cursos-abertos-ao-publico.

Classes will be self-instructional, from August 7 to September 6. The participants with a minimum 70% attendance will receive a certificate after conclusion.

Course participants who finished the training “The role of the IBGE and the importance of the Population Census”, the first one of the four Distance Learning courses proposed for the Program, highlighted their importance as they promote better understanding about the IBGE activities and of the surveys carried out by the Institute, which are fundamental for the establishment of public policies in the country.

The Program will also have two more Distance Learning courses, lasting the same 30 hours: “Concepts and applications of the Population Census for Economic Development and “Concepts and Applications of the Population Census for sustainable development.” Participants who complete the four modules and attend a minimum of 70% attendance will be entitled to join the “Dissemination training workshop: elaboration of public policies based on IBGE data.” It will be a synchronous online workshop lasting 32 hours.

Other courses will be available from the second semester on, with themes related to the fields of Demography, Statistics and Geography.
