The Assistant to the Executive Directorate of the IBGE, Hugo Leonardo do Couto, remarked that the 2025 Work Plan is based on four axes. “The approved proposal is based on four premises. The first one is the coincidence with the time horizon of the Pluriannual Plan (PPA), so that the validity of this new plan will end in 2027. The second premise is the centrality of implementation of the National Sovereign System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED) in a perspective of the future, given the prominent position of the system in the current institutional strategy. The third one is the integration between the strategic plan with annual work plans that have been done in the Institute, in such a way that they will form the tactic layer of the plan, thus allowing the elaboration of a more objective, shorter plan and facilitate monitoring in coming years. Right now we ask all leaderships and all employees to participate in this moment When the IBGE strategy will be reassessed and decisions on the path to be followed by the Institute in the next few years.”
The director general of IJSN Pablo Lira praised the partnership between the Institute and the IBGE regarding the formulation of data and of public policies. He believes this partnership “results in knowledge and information to support the elaboration and improvement of public policies beyond Rio, São Paulo and Brasília, thus reaching other Major Regions, states and municipalities.”

The Plan directs strategic actions by the IBGE for 2025, and advances in the officialization of the National System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED), modernization of structures, preparation for the 12th Census of Agriculture, conduction of the Consumer Expenditure Survey and other releases, also including international activities and meetings between the IBGE and official statistical offices.
The Director of Geosciences of the IBGE (DGC), Maria do Carmo Dias Bueno, who has recently taken office highlighted the presentation of data and partnership with other agencies and institutes, besides the presentation of data of the 2022 Census throughout the year. “We can improve statistical data to better characterize this population in risk areas. We will improve environmental economic accounts. That is something the IBGE has developed. And, in 2025, we continue to release data of the 2022 Census. So, we need to launch, this year, characteristics of the surroundings of municipalities, which we have not released yet, and, with the start of dissemination of sample data, routes covered by people to work or to study” said the director.
“The full version of the work plan in a document presents guidelines for the entire IBGE and allows society to follow our activities, what we produce. We are happy to see you all here, and thank those that helped us organize this event, and say that we are determined to disseminate what is new,” said the State Superintendent of the IBGE in Espírito Santo, Max Fraga.
The President of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, mentioned that the Institute has great proximity with the Brazilian population: “The IBGE is one of the few institutions that visits the home of Brazilians. Obviously, there are other institutions. The mailman does not come into people’s houses, but the IBGE does and asks people questions, and the Brazilians answer, because they trust the information will be safe."

About the survey data and the methodology used, the President added that “data, once collected, are systematized until they become something to be published, disseminated. And Every moment, almost every one and a half day, the BGE presents a study, a survey. And for us it is very important that all data be available to all Brazilians, state, federal or municipal governments and the private initiative.” .
Among the priorities of the new IBGE Work Plan are strategic actions for the UN Climate Change 2025 Conference 2025 (COP 30)," conducted by the Institute with federal and regional entities. The Work Plan consists of the following topics: the IBGE; Foreign context; national System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED); Planned actions; Production of Statistical and Geoscientific Information; Teaching, Research and Extension; Corporate support; Improvement and innovation; and Dissemination and Communication.
The State Secretary for Economy and Planning, Álvaro Duboc, praised the partnership with the IBGE and mentioned the importance of information and data to the modernization of public management. According to him, “The State has quality information for us to implement and improve public policies, so as that we get to face the challenges of society; that is fundamental. So, I thank one more time the IBGE for being here, especially to launch the 2025 Work Plan. As representatives of the state government we want to move further in this partnership with the Institute and we will, in fact, adopt new policies to face the new challenges to come.”

At the end of the event, the Coordinator of CDDI, José Daniel Castro, announced the idea of opening, in the first semester, a new Branch of Casa Brasil IBGE in the state. That is in accordance with the decentralization policies adopted by the Institute in the last few months, as it is the example of Casa Brasil IBGE Sudene, in Recife (PE), and Casa Brasil IBGE COP, in Belém (PA). The director of IJSN Pablo Lira said the partnership is important because “the sooner we build things and present information, the bigger will be the access to that, even with technological content.”
