With two collective agreements and rise of materials, construction prices rise by 0.63% in August

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), released today (10) by the IBGE, apchanged by 0.63% in August. The rate is 0.23 percentage points (p.p.) above the index of July, 0.40%. this rate was the highest since August 2022.The cumulative index in the last twelve months was of 3.122%, above the 2.66% registered in the immediately previous twelve months. the index of August 2023 reached 0.18%.  

The national cost of construction by square meter, changed from R$1,756.01 in July to R$1,767.09 in August, being R$1,014.31 relative to  material and R$752.78 to workforce.

"With a rate of 0.50% in August, the materials sector recorded its second increase in a row, 0.20 p.p. up in July. In comparison with August 2023, the rise of materials was more significant, with a difference of 0.64 p.p.. In contrast, labor, with a rate of 0.81% and two collective agreements signed, was up 0.28% in the month and 17 p.p. against August 2023," explains Augusto Oliveira, the manager of the survey.

South region records highest monthly change in August

The South, influenced by the increase in professional categories in its three states, had the highest regional change in August, at 1.82%. The other Major Regions recorded the following results: 0.41% (North), 0.38% (Northeast), 0.58% (Southeast) and 0.14% (Central West).

The influence of the percentage of labor on the aggregate index led Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul to record the highest increases.  

From January to August, the cumulative rates were: 1.26% (materials) and 4.49% (workforce). The cumulative in 12 months was 1.41% (materials) and 5.53% (workforce), respectively.
