Registration open for ENCE's Postgraduate Programs

The National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), IBGE's higher degree institution, has opened registration for its postgraduate programs. The lato sensu Specialization in Environmental Analysis and Territory Management offers 30 places for the evening classes and has registrations open up to September 12. The stricto sensu Postgraduate Program in Population, Territory and Public Statistics has registrations open up to September 19 offering 20 places for the Master's and the PhD's course. In-person classes are administered at campus Cavalcanti.

Specialization

The general objective of the postgraduate program in Environmental Analysis and Territory Management is to complement the expertise of professionals for working within the context of the contemporary socioeconomic challenges, understanding their causes and seeking to overcome them. The focus is on the pedagogical perspective, developing a critical and interdisciplinary view on environmental and territorial issues, based on the integration between environmental knowledge and analyses and planning, structuring and managing territories. 

The course will be offered in person in the evening on the dates and times established quarterly. There is no registration fee or tuition throughout the academic year. The course is structured into three quarters of classes, totaling 432 class hours, followed by up to nine months for the completion of the Final Project (TCC).

Classes are taught in person at the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), André Cavalcanti campus, in the evening, from 6:20 pm to 9:30 pm, Tuesday through Thursday. When necessary, make-up classes and supplementary activities may be held on Mondays or Fridays at the same time.

Master's and Doctoral Courses

The Postgraduate Program in Population, Territory, and Public Statistics at ENCE, including master's and doctoral courses, aims at training researchers and professionals to carry out research and teaching activities, capable of developing and applying theoretical approaches, models, and methods for the analysis of socio-spatial processes, as well as for the production of public information and statistics that expand knowledge of population and territorial reality and their impact. Dynamics.

The master's and doctoral programs include two research lines, described below, which guide research projects, dissertations, and theses.

Population, Territory, and Living Conditions: This line focuses on the study of population and territorial dynamics and the living conditions of the population, encompassing social, economic, and environmental aspects. It includes the use of indicators and the employment of methods and models to analyze population and territorial dynamics and living conditions, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of public policies. It explores existing databases and conducts surveys of quantitative and qualitative information, considering conceptual and methodological aspects and respecting the limitations of the sources used. 

Production of Public Statistics: This line focuses on the study of issues related to the planning and conduct of surveys such as censuses, sample surveys, and administrative records used to produce public statistics that portray the state, population and territorial dynamics, and the living conditions of the population. It includes the development, analysis, and evaluation of methods and models that contribute to the advancement of public statistics production, development of indicators and indicator systems.

The courses do not require full-time dedication, but availability to regularly attend classes and participate in other activities provided by the program is required.
