Authorization was published this Tuesday (12) in the Official Gazette

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will open a simplified selection process for hiring up to 9,580 temporary officers. The authorization was made through Joint Ordinance no. 58/2025 from the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) and the Ministry of Planning and Budget (MPO), published this Tuesday (12) in the Official Gazette. Recently, the IBGE accomplished the largest public tender ever through the CNPU.

The new positions will be destined to carry out the IBGE surveys throughout the national territory. Of the total positions, 8,480 will be for the function of surveying and mapping agent, responsible for the collection of information, and 1,100 for the function of supervisor of data collection and quality, which acts on the monitoring and supervision of field work.

“The Official Gazette has brought a news that, from the authorization of President Lula's administration, through the Ministry of Planning and Budget and the Ministry of Management and Innovation, the IBGE is allowed to hire 9,850 new temporary officers, the largest contest in the history of the IBGE for temporary workers. It is with this set of good news that we are building a contemporary institution of the challenges we live today, in the middle of the Digital Age,” explained Marcio Pochmann, President of the IBGE.

Joint Ordinance No. 58/2025 establishes that the notice is published within 6 months, but the IBGE aims at publishing it as soon as possible. For this, the process of hiring the organizing company that will conduct the selection, through a Simplified Selection Process, as provided for in Law 8,745/1993, is already underway. The term of the contracts will be one year, and may be extended to up to three years, according to the need to complete the activities. The compensation will be defined by the IBGE, observing the legal limits, and disclosed in the notice.

"The IBGE has received this authorization with great joy, because these professionals are the front line of the IBGE, knocking from door to door, talking to the population and collecting information that portrays the reality of Brazil. With this authorization for a new hiring, we will strengthen our work throughout the country, with professionals who will work in our State Superintendencies and more than 500 IBGE branches, ensuring that each data produced accurately reflects the lives of Brazilians and contribute to the construction of fairer and more effective public policies," concluded Bruno Malheiros, Coordinator of Human Resources.
