ENCE/IBGE opened seats for two new courses: Uncomplicating the IBGE and Introduction to Social Indicators. The courses are offered free of charge as self-instructional Distance Learning. They are open to any interested person and provide a certificate of completion. Registration for the two courses is open until August 22 and can be concluded until August 31. The enrollment links are available on page https://ence.ibge.gov.br/index.php/portal-treinamento/cursos-abertos-ao-publico

The course Uncomplicating the IBGE provides basic knowledge to understand the organizations, surveys and statistics that portray Brazil. Participants will explore theoretical and practical aspects of the IBGE´s work, by knowing its history, its main surveys and how this information is collected and released to understand Brazil.

On the other hand, the course Introduction to Social Indicators provides a sound base to understand the social and economic dynamics. Participants will explore theoretical and practical aspects of the use of these indicators to analyze different Brazilian regions, using official statistics as the base.

Registration for other two courses previously announced in the area of demography: Population Studies and Fertility and Mortality will close on July 25. Links for registration and other information are also available on page https://ence.ibge.gov.br/index.php/portal-treinamento/cursos-abertos-ao-publico.

The four courses were developed by the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), an IBGE´s higher education institution, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a United Nations agency that formulates and monitors policies and programs on population and development.
