IBGE opens registration on June 25 for the Digital Era Conference

Next Tuesday, June 25th, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) opens online registration for the National Conference of Data Producers and Users on the subject of National Sovereignty in Geosciences, Statistics and Data - Risks and Opportunities of the Digital Era, to be held from July 29th to August 2nd with the support of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), which hosts the event on its Maracanã campus, in the north of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
At 10 am on June 25th (Tuesday) an IBGE totem will be inaugurated at UERJ, with a symbolic act of registration opening and release of the Conference schedule. The rector of UERJ, Gulnar Azevedo, and the president of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, will be present at the inauguration.
Registration is free and can be made by measn of a form on the Conference page on the IBGE website. Certificates will be provided to participants. The main roundtables will be broadcast by IBGE Digital (IBGE.gov.br).
The National Conference of Data Producers and Users on the subject of National Sovereignty in Geosciences, Statistics and Data - Risks and Opportunities of the Digital Era aims at expanding the Institute's dialogue with society and producers and users of IBGE data and statistics, as well as evaluating the processes of production, dissemination and use of statistical and geographic information.
The Conference also represents an important moment, in which the IBGE will put forward for external debate the draft text proposal based on nine areas, part of the actions of the IBGE 90 Years Dialogues. Experts, authorities, artists and other data producers and users from Brazil and abroad, from all areas of knowledge and of civil society, will be invited to the roundtables, working groups and debates at the Conference.

It is the IBGE of the 21st century, playing a leading role in the new Digital Era. For this purpose, the entire Brazilian society is invited to join this great Conference and take part in this stage of the history of the IBGE and of the National Sovereign System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data, to which registrations will be open on the 25th”, highlighted Marcio Pochmann, president of the IBGE.
