The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will hold on June 7th, from 8 am to 12 pm, the second SINGED Lab training aimed at public managers involved in the reconstruction of areas hit by rainfalls in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Registration is free, and can be done until June 6th on the IBGE bookstore website (loja.ibge.gov.br).
The training, carried out remotely, is part of the actions of the task force launched by the Institute with the aim of training public agents in Rio Grande do Sul to use IBGE tools in rebuilding and mitigating the damage caused by the climate catastrophe that has devastated the state few weeks ago.
In the training, managers will learn how to use intelligence tools from the SIDRA system (IBGE Automatic Retrieval System), a platform that allows them to carry out different searches, generate graphs, cartograms and tables, among others. The elaboration can be carried out from the state, municipality or region affected by the calamity, through data crossing and indicators, bringing managers closer to the reality of their own territory, as well as allowing automatic search to be carried out, with online results, based on specific demands and challenges of public management.
The training is free, and is taught virtually by IBGE's National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE). Municipal and state managers can participate, including: mayors, secretaries, legislators, advisors and assistants from different areas, such as: administration, laws, health, education, security, agriculture, among others.
In addition to the SIDRA platform, in this training the IBGE will show several channels on its website, with economic, social, health or agricultural indicators, as well as products that are available for free download or at a low cost, in the case of printed works. There are more than 500 free releases and events per year, most of which are broadcast over the internet.
SINGED Lab IBGE
SINGED Lab is IBGE's innovation laboratory. Formed by a multidisciplinary team, its purpose is to create an environment conducive to experimentation, generation of new ideas and projects for the diagnosis and planning of public policies, through the use of technology combined with the immense wealth of technical, statistical and geoscientific information and data produced by the Institute, centralized in the National System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED). With SINGED, the IBGE intends to establish national coordination of strategic information. Artificial intelligence resources will allow information to be organized into tables, rankings and cartograms. Some of the tools that make up the SINGED Lab are the IBGE Cities channel, the Census Overview page, the Interactive Geographic Platform (PGI), the Automatic Retrieval System (SIDRA) and the Maps Portal.
