The dean of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Irineu Manoel de Souza, and the vice dean, Joana Célia Passos, will receive this Wednesday, 20th, the Superintendent of IBGE in Santa Catarina, Roberto Kern Gomes, for the second IBGE External 90 years Dialogues. The meeting will take place from 7 pm to 9 pm in the Auditorium of the Council Room, “Professor Ayrton Roberto de Oliveira”, Rectory Building, ground floor, and will be broadcast on the IBGE website, on the IBGE official YouTube channel and on the Institute's official social media.

The meeting is aimed at the participation of the entire society. The Institute will be open to hear demands and doubts from the academic community, public authorities, professional and collective representation entities, researchers, students, among others. With three years to complete nine decades of activity, in addition to recording the Institute's memory, the Dialogues project intends to think of guidelines for a new IBGE, including a series of internal and external activities. The External Dialogues will take place in the 27 capitals of the country in partnership with public authorities and society's local entities.

The event is a continuation of the first External Dialogues, which took place in February at the Federal University of Tocantis (UFT). You can access the full event here. The objective is to bring together external actors and important IBGE partners. The Institute invited authorities and representatives of society to share their experiences o work and research, as well as to help think about the role of the new IBGE for the future.

“The engagement and participation of the academic community, especially in a place like UFSC, is essential to validate the work aimed at accomplishing IBGE's mission, which is only possible with this dialogue and integration, for a Population Census is only carried out with collective national involvement and with known international methodologies”, reports Roberto Kern Gomes, superintendent of IBGE in Santa Catarina.

The External Dialogues meeting in Florianópolis takes place together with two other IBGE events also aimed at the entire community, with different objectives.

On Wednesday, 20th, from 2 pm to 6 pm, the IBGE will deliver a Technical Workshop on the 2022 Census, its practical use and data potential for local managers and on tools and forms of access to data, including the 2022 Census Overview, the Interactive Geographic Platform (PGI), the Environmental Information Database (BDiA) and the IBGE System of Automatic Retrieval (Sidra), which generates customized tables. The Workshop will take place in the  Auditorium of the Intermunicipal Regulatory Agency for Sanitation – ARIS, in the Santa Catarina Federation of Municipalities (Fecam) building, in the Canto neighborhood.
