Federative Caravan
São Luís will host Federative Caravan with participation of IBGE-MA

The fifth edition of the Federative Caravan of the Federal Government will be held in the capital of Maranhão, São Luís, on November 23-24 at Ceprama. During the event, IBGE technicians will provide an overview of IBGE surveys and actions, besides attending 217 city halls in the state.
The event will count with speeches, workshops, services and technical attendance of several federal institutions, aiming at fostering the institutional engagement among the federal, state and municipal administrations to establish the cooperation of actions and a permanent communication channel among the federated entities. According to the Superintendent of the IBGE-MA, Marcelo Virgínio de Melo, “the initiative is innovative by providing a qualified technical service and information in technical cooperation, including the entire production of the IBGE in Maranhão.”
The IBGE stand
The SES-MA team will be in charge of attending the IBGE stand, where mayors, advisors, secretaries and other participants might clear doubts on IBGE products, know the databases and information channels, as well as check the results of the 2022 Population Census and other surveys. Making these data available to the municipal representatives “is key to formulate public policies and to effectively exert the allocation function, since resources are scarce and need to be managed according to the needs of each place,” emphasized the superintendent.
Besides the IBGE, 31 ministries and 3 offices (FNDE, Funasa and INSS) have already confirmed their participation in the Federative Caravan in Maranhão. Caixa Econômica Federal, Banco do Brazil, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), the Federal Data Processing Service (Serpro), Equatorial and the Brazilian Mail will be present as well. In the IBGE stand, mayors, advisors, secretaries and other participants might clear doubts on IBGE products, know the databases and information channels, as well as check the results of the 2022 Population Census and other surveys. Visitors will receive bags with notepads, pens, maps, calendars and institutional folders.
Caravans
With the theme: “Union and reconstruction for a new federative relation,” the initiative has already passed through Salvador (BA), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Porto Alegre (RS) and Palmas (TO). After Maranhão, the Caravan is scheduled for Ceará, also counting with the participation of the IBGE.
