In 2015, the construction industry carried out enterprises valued at R$354.4 billion, a retraction of 16.5% over 2014. The same happened with the net operating revenue (R$323.9 billion), which also declined 18.7% in real terms.

The expenditure with employed persons amounted to 33.3% of the costs and expenses of these companies. The average monthly wage retreated 1.4%, changing from R$1,970.05 in 2014 to R$1,943.43 in 2015.

According to José Carlos Guabyraba, manager of the Annual Survey of the Construction Industry - PAIC, the figures released today, June 21, were influenced by the Gross Domestic Product - GDP:

"It should be noted that the quarterly GDP changed -3.8% in 2015 over 2014, the biggest retraction in the time series started in 1996. From 2014 onwards, the segment of construction began to reflect the deceleration of the economic activity in Brazil, particularly in the internal demand, in which the consumption of households dropped -3.9% in relation to 2014".

In 2015, the construction sector had 131.5 thousand active companies employing 2.4 million persons, as shown below:
