The IBGE hosts a meeting this week involving national statistical offices and ministries of environment of Latin American and Caribbean countries. The meeting will discuss about the creation of data, access to environmental information and cooperation on the Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs that comprise the United Nations´2030 Agenda.
Taking place in Rio de Janeiro up to December 15, the workshop is also promoted by the UN Environment and by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean - ECLAC, as well as by the Ministry of Environment - MMA.
Roberto Olinto, president of the IBGE, opened the meeting, as well as the director of Geosciences, Wadih Scandar Neto, and representatives from ECLAC, UN Environment and the MMA. A total of 50 attendees will share their experiences, challenges and best practices in the area of production and dissemination of environmental and sustainable development indicators along five days.
