IBGE announcement: data on religion in Brazil

The data on religion showed by GloboNews and CNN on April 23, 2025 do not correspond to the official results of the 2022 Population Census. Moreover, the stations showed conflicting results with each other.

The IBGE clarifies that the results related to this matter are still being compiled and are under a technical editing, in which the data are revised and validated by IBGE thematic experts.

The official release of this information is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025, according to the schedule established by the IBGE and published in the IBGE News Agency.

Only after this process, and due communication and dissemination, the data will be available for public access and used as a reliable reference on the religious profile of the Brazilian population.
