Board of Trustees and Audit Committee of IBGE+ Foundation are sworn into office

The inauguration of the Board of Trustees and the Audit Committee of IBGE + (Foundation for Support of Scientific and Technological Innovation of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, was held on Wednesday, 23, in an in-person/online ceremony.
As incumbent directors of the Board of Trustees of IBGE +, the president of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, in compliance with article No.10, paragraph 9 of the Statute of IBGE+ Foundation, installed Walid Nemer Damous Sobrinho, Manager for Institutional Relations at the IBGE; Francisco Garrido Barcia, State Superintendent of the IBGE in São Paulo and Sonia Val Dias, Chief of Staff, Presidency of the IBGE, and as substitute members, Edson Chun-Ichi Ebara, deputy Manager of Institutional Relations at the IBGE, Rose Mary Rodrigues, deputy Executive Director at the IBGE, and Antonio Tadeu Ribeiro de Oliveira, retired IBGE civil servant.
The appointed incumbent and deputy representatives of the Board of Trustees, in compliance with Article No.10, section II, of the Statute of IBGE+ Foundation, were, respectively, Luiz Gonzaga de Mello Belluzzo, economist and professor with a doctoral degree from UNICAMP, and Liana Maria da Frota Carleial, economist and professor with a doctoral degree from USP.
The representatives elected by IBGE civil servants (except retired ones), in compliance with Article No.10, section III, were Clician do Couto Oliveira, from the Department of Social Indicators of the Coordination for population and Social Indicators of the IBGE’s Directorate of Surveys, having as deputy representative Paulo Roberto Gaudio de Almeida, Head of the IBGE Local Branch in Guarulhos (SP). Walid Nemer Damous Sobrinho was appointed President of the Board of Trustees.
The incumbent and deputy representatives appointed by the IBGE’s Board of Directors as members of the Audit Committee of IBGE + Foundation were Gabriel Correa Teles de Assis, accountant at the IBGE, and Eurico de Souza Gomes Filho, IBGE retired civil servant. The members of the IBGE Board of Trustees in the Audit Committee of the IBGE+ Foundation were Nelio Ferreira Machado, IBGE’s Internal Affairs officer and Millane Chaves da Silva, IBGE’s State Superintendent in Mato Grosso. Elected by voting civil servants were Rosinadja Batista dos Santos Morato, head of the Structural Surveys Department in Sergipe, and Paulo Henrique Schroder, technical Assistant of the IBGE in Santa Catarina. Gabriel Correa Teles de Assis was appointed President of the Audit Committee.
In his opening speech, Pochmann reinforced his happiness for the installation of these representatives, and highlighted that “it is an important step for the strengthening of the IBGE as a modern institution in science and technology,” and a “landmark for the IBGE, which advances towards modernization amongst the demands of digital transformation.”
“IBGE+ Foundation preserves the technical independence of the Institute, and will be ruled by a Board of Trustees and an Audit Committee sworn into office today, most of whom are civil servants with more the 10 years’ experience at the IBGE. With these new members, we are sure the initiatives of the Foundation will be in line with the IBGE’s Innovation Policy and its strategic objectives,” the President said.
The appointed members thanked the participants and reinforced their commitment with the IBGE and with technological and scientific development of the Institution concerning the challenges posed to them.
After the ceremony, the Board of Trustees had its first meeting with members. Other names appointed then were Licio da Costa Raimundo as Director of Finance, José de Menezes da Gama Malcher, Science and Technology Director and Marise Maria Ferreira as Administrative Director of the IBGE+ Foundation.
