In a meeting today (19/03) morning, at the IBGE Presidency office, the Institute and the city government of Rio de Janeiro advanced in discussions aiming at establishment of partnerships. In January (14), mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) received the IBGE in his office, at the City Hall.
In today's meeting, the president of the IBGE discussed actions related to the BRICS events in the city, including an event conducted in partnership between the IBGE and the municipal government, as Rio de Janeiro will host upcoming meetings in July.
Marcio Pochmann considers important and very strategic a partnership with the municipal government, since the Institute this year is the leader of BRICS statistical agencies and Mercosur and wants to launch a number of actions this year.
Secretary Santa Cruz will submit to the mayor proposals for assessment, and he "also sees that as a valuable partnership, for the city hosted G20 and it is now preparing for BRICS".
The President of the IBGE was accompanied by Flavia Vinhaes, vice president and executive director of the Institute. She took the opportunity to thank the city administration for allowing the IBGE to use an exclusive bus stop from where its employees will depart to the new IBGE branch at the Serpro building, in the neighborhood of Horto. Other partnerships have been considered in the field of public spaces.
Denis Maracci Gimenez and José Daniel Castro da Silva, coordinator general of the Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination, which includes the Social Communication Division (CCS) also participated in the meeting.
