The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) was 1.87% in April, representing 0.42 percentage points above the rate of March (1.45%). It was the third highest rate since the beginning of the series, in July 2013. There was an increase in this indicator in all regions, due to the increase in the share of materials, especially in the Northeast.

In the year, the index accrued increase of 6.81% and, in the last twelve months, of 16.31%, a result above the 14.46% registered in the preceding twelve months. In April 2020, the index was 0.25%.

The national cost of construction per square meter, which in March was R$ 1,338.35, in April changed to R$ 1,363.41: R$ 789.10 relative to materials and R$ 574.31 to labor force.

The share of materials had a high of 3.14%, standing 0.94 percentage points above the previous month (2.20%) and reached its highest percentage of 2021. In relation to April 2020 (0.09), there was increase of 3.05 percentage points.

The share of labor force, with rate of 0.18%, presented decrease of 0.29 percentage points in relation to March (0.47%). Compared to April of the previous year (0.42%), there was a drop of 0.24 percentage points.

From January to April, the cumulative figures are: 11.08% (material) and 1.46% (labor force), whereas in twelve months, they are: 28.41% (material) and 2.99% (labor force).

Northeast region records the highest monthly change

With the high in the share of materials in all states, and the collective agreement registered in the state of Maranhão, the Northeast \region had the greatest regional change in April (2.23%).

The other regions presented the following results: 1.49% (North), 1.95% (Southeast), 1.97% (South), and 0.61 (Central-West).

The costs by region, per square meter, were: R$ 1,351.76 (North); R$ 1,293.48 (Northeast); R$ 1,412.62 (Southeast); R$ 1,422.44 (South) and R$ 1,330.39 (Central-West).

Minas leads highs with change of 2.85%

Among the states, Minas Gerais (2.85%) had the highest monthly change, with Bahia (2.51%) and Maranhão (2.48%) coming right after.
