In April, national index of construction increased 0.79%

The National Index of Construction calculated by the IBGE in partnership with CAIXA – Caixa Econômica Federal - changed 0.79% in April. In relation to March (0.47%) there was an increase of 0.32 percentage point. In the comparison with April 2004 (0.57%) the current index was superior in 0.22 percentage point. With the result of April the accumulated index of the year remained in 2.65% and in twelve months, 10.89%.
The national cost by square meter passed to R$ 521.15 being R$ 307.53 relative to materials and R$ 213.62 to labor force.
Materials recorded an increase of 0.86% in April, which means 0.09 percentage point above the level of March (0.77%), accumulating 3.11% in the year and 13.93% in twelve months.
Labor force increased more in April changing 0.67%, 0.62 percentage point above the level of March (0.05%).
In the year, labor force increased 2.00% and in the last twelve months the accumulated index was 6.79%.
Southeast Region presented highest index
The Southeast presented the highest regional index in April (1.21%), considerably above the results of the other regions, as a consequence of the wage readjustments that occurred in Rio de Janeiro. Following was the South Region, 0.63%. The North (0.44%) and the Northeast (0.43%) presented very similar indexes, while the Central West registered the lowest change (0.28%). Regarding the highest accumulated rates, stand out in the year, the North (3.48%) and in 12 months, the Northeast (12.36%). The Central West remained with the lowest accumulated index in the year (1.42%) and the North (9.71%) in twelve months.
The regional costs were the following: R$ 558.20 (Southeast); R$ 525.70 (South); R$ 497.57 (North); R$ 494.52 (Central West) and R$ 479.63 (Northeast).
Among the states, Rio de Janeiro stood out in April
Rio de Janeiro (4.89%) presented the major index among the states due to wage readjustments. Espírito Santo changed 1.00% and all the other states recorded changes below this level.
The lowest result in the month occurred in Goiás (0.18%).
Amapá presented the highest accumulated rate in the year (8.73%) and Paraíba in twelve months (17.46%).
