The second day of activities of the 2nd pilot test for the 12th Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture, conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) was marked by visits to more localities in Viamão (RS).
On this second day, the highlight was the visit to traditional peoples and communities, especially Quilombo da Anastácia, where residents produce soap and honey.
“This is the second census, but this time it has been better structured by the IBGE. We used to visit these localities, but there was no specific item in the questionnaire to identify this community,” says Diane Ciriaco.
“It is very challenging. The communities are very receptive and are conscious of the visibility brought by the IBGE."
The action is part of a strategic step in preparation for the national survey, focusing on the evaluation of methodologies, data collection instruments and operational procedures in the field.
