The sixth unit of Casa Brasil IBGE was inaugurated last December 5 in the state of Bahia, during the National Conference of Data Producers and Users. The new unit is located on Avenida da França, in the Comércio neighborhood.

The interactive space of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which brings together memory and technology in one place, is the result of a partnership with the Government of the State of Bahia and is installed in the Instituto do Cacau building, in the Citizen Service (SAC) area.

The president of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, thanked the partnership and reinforced the importance of the installation at SAC: "The revitalization of this historical center of the city is taking place, and the IBGE is part of this. Therefore, this Casa Brasil fulfills the function of bringing the population closer to the Institute and its production of data and statistics."

André Urpia, superintendent of the IBGE in Bahia, highlighted the great circulation at the site: "We are happy with this inauguration, where more people will be able to have access to our work."

During the inauguration, those present learned about the areas that make up Casa Brasil IBGE and the interactive products, such as the My IBGE application, presented by the coordinator of the Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination (CDDI/CCS), José Daniel Castro.

Rodrigo Pimentel, state secretary of Administration, recalled that Casa Brasil IBGE will contribute to the revitalization of the space. "This is a center for citizen services, and having the IBGE´s presence means further enhancing the place with activities aimed at people."

The Casa Brasil IBGE project is conceived as an interactive environment that aims to bring the public closer to the IBGE's work, making knowledge about Brazil more accessible. The Bahia unit joins existing headquarters in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Recife (PE), Belém (PA), Juiz de Fora (MG) and Fortaleza (CE).

The Casa Brasil initiative is structured around the pillars of Memory, Knowledge and Future, aiming above all to preserve the history of the IBGE and Brazil, transform statistical data into educational experiences and foster data culture and public innovation.
