Since its first edition, Femina (International Women's Film Festival) has held debates and meetings with guests from the cultural and intellectual field to discuss with the public issues related to gender equality and relations, identities, sexualities, bodies, representations, human rights, feminisms, representativity, among other topics within the scope of the festival.
In 2025, Femina Seminar is being held one more time in partnership with GENERIS – Research Group on Gender, Sexualities, Reproduction and their Intersectionalities, within theo Postgraduate Program in Population, Territory and Public Statistics of the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), the IBGE's academic arm.
GENERIS gathers studies that approach gender relations and their intersectionalities from a sociodemographic perspective, covering topics such as fertility, reproduction, identities and sexualities, sources of data and public statistics, representativeness, productive and reproductive labor, education, science and technology, among others.
Face to face discussion panlels will take place on March 19 and 20, as well as an online course on March 21. Barbara Cobo and Joice Soares, professors from ENCE, will join the panel “Portraits and profiles of Brazilian women and their representations in the cinema.”

International Women's Film Festival
Femina is a competitive festival featuring films directed by (cis and transgender) women and non-binary people. It is the first event of this kind in Brazil and in Latin America and had its first edition in 2004. Besides presenting the work of Brazilian producers, thus increasing their visibility and paving the way for Brazilian cinema abroad, the festival also brings foreign production to Brazil. The 15th edition of Femina will be held at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil – CCBB Rio de Janeiro. The full schedule is available at https://feminafest.com.br.
The opening of Femina will be on March 18, at 7 am, with “Madame Rodin ou L’Âge Mûr”, directed by Lana Cheramy. The film, not yet released in Brazil, takes place in February 1871. At the Paris Commune, Rose Beuret needs to take care of an unfinished Rodin sculpture, and seeks refuge in the dedication to this work to forget about her own solitude. The registration link for the opening session, subject to capacity, is available at https://linktr.ee/feminafestival2025.
