The 300th episode of IBGE Minute was broadcast this Monday (21) bringing the theme "Who doesn´t use the Internet?" The radio program shows, through data and curiosities, how the information produced by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) is present in the daily life of Brazilians.

IBGE Minute is a weekly audiovisual product, aiming at disseminating statistical data and information on Brazil in a simple and user-friendly format. A new episode is broadcast every Monday, which can be watched on the IBGE channel on YouTube and through the IBGE News Agency or downloaded on the Agência Rádio Gov website.

The edition number 300 deals with the module of information and communication technology of the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD ICT), concerning the use of the Internet by the Brazilian population. In the program, the survey's spokesman and analyst Gustavo Geaquinto details the survey, released in August.

"With a direct and objective language and participation of experts, IBGE Minute is a product that helps to disseminate statistical information and, on the other hand, helps people to know more about the country and life condition of Brazilians," pointed out Adriana Saraiva, IBGE Manager of Social Communication.

In partnership with Rádio Gov, the program is broadcast to radio stations in the entire country through the National Radio Network. Adriana Saraiva explained that IBGE Minute was created in 2017 by Marcelo Kieling, Publicist and former Coordinator of Communication, aiming at disseminating the IBGE surveys to those living in small cites and in the country, where the use of radio is still very present.

IBGE Minute is part of the IBGE goal of democratizing the access to information on themes like population, economy, territory, environment and other areas. Each program consists of one-minute audios and interviews, with a clear and objective content, allowing listeners to access data from IBGE´s surveys.

"The idea is to show the public that the IBGE is present in some way in everything that surrounds their reality. You mention a word and we show that is linked with the IBGE. For instance, artists recall art, the IBGE surveys on culture, and we use this survey to show this. The goal is to say that our work is part of the daily life of Brazilians, even not knowing it...wherever you go you are surrounded by the IBGE in any way," explained Carlos Alberto Guimarães, a journalist of the program production team.

Different stories are another characteristic of the program. Themes like the results of surveys - among them, the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous PNAD), Population Census, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and economic indexes - are approached, as well as technological innovations and geoscientific studies. Guimarães added that the program is also a way to publicize the IBGE routine in the accomplishment of surveys. "We take a slant of each survey and develop as much as possible in IBGE Minute."

The first IBGE Minute aired in May 2018 and only stopped in two moments, during the election periods. After celebrating the 300th edition, the program already prepares new stories, always under the slogan "information for citizenship."
