Organized by the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), the registration for the course "Concept and applications of the Population Census for the economic development" remains open until next Tuesday (10). This is the third course of the "Population Census for Public Management" program, a partnership between the IBGE and the Integrated Center of Network Learning (CIAR), of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). Accomplished at distance, taking 30 hours, the classes are free of charge and are scheduled to occur between September 16 and October 15. Five hundred seats are being offered. Registration can be made here.

The target audience of the course comprises state and municipal public managers, public officers in general, university personnel (technicians, teachers and students) and members of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The selected candidates will be release on September 12.

"Our goal is that this course allows people to use the Population Census data, not only that of 2022, to help in the planning and follow-up of public policies. The idea is that the public can access this information easily. It is worth highlighting that the classes are asynchronous, i.e., people can watch them whenever appropriate for them," explains Ana Carolina Bertho, ENCE´s Coordinator of Training and Improvement. According to her, the course "Concepts and applications of the Population Census for the economic development" has a theoretical part, approaching economic development and concepts like growth and development, as well as it presents some indicators. It also includes instructions on how to use and interpret the data released by the IBGE.

"´The partnership between ENCE and the UFG has been very successful. We are using the UFG´s experience in courses open to the external public to expand our operation in this area. Assessment of students has benn positive as well," adds Bertho.

The two courses previously offered by the program, "The role of the IBGE and the importance of the Population Census" and "Concepts and applications of the Population Census in public policies" should have new editions in October. One more course will released this year, aimed at the sustainable development.
