Dilma Rousseff meets with Marcio Pochmann in Rio de Janeiro to discuss partnerships between the IBGE and the BRICS Bank

The president of the New Development Bank (NDB), known as the BRICS Bank, and ex-president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, met, on Wednesday morning (24), in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the president of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Marcio Pochmann.

The meeting took place at Galpão da Cidadania, Gamboa neighborhood, as part of the G20 actions and events in Rio de Janeiro, and follows a meeting between Pochmann and Rousseff held in Shanghai in September last year, with the objective of strengthening partnerships between the IBGE and the BRICS bank, mainly regarding the cooperative development of statistics for the group of member countries.

“The meeting with the president of the BRICS Bank, Dilma Rousseff, ex-president of the Republic of Brazil, represents a continuity to the dialogue we started at the headquarters of the Bank in Shanghai. The presentation of SINGED and the potential of technical works conducted in partnership with the BRICS National Statistical Institute stand out in this discussion,” says Pochmann.

The coordinator of IBGE’s Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination and coordinator of Social Communication, Daniel Castro, and the special advisor to the presidency, Denis Gimenez, also participated in the meeting.
