IBGE assists 35 visitors on the first day of the Federative Caravan in Pará

IBGE assists visitors on the first day of the Federative Caravan held in Belém, capital of Pará.

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) rendered this Thursday, the 4th, the first services at the Federative Caravan of Pará, held at the Hangar Center of Conventions and Fairs of the Amazon, in the Marco neighborhood. The event has the participation of more than 30 ministries, authorities and federal government bodies, and aims at discussing public programs, policies and services, with mayors, secretaries, advisors, public managers, the academic community and social movements in Pará.

Of the 144 municipalities in Pará, 141 are represented in this edition of the Caravan. With the theme “Unity and reconstruction through a new federative relationship”, the event reaches its eleventh edition, after having been to Salvador (BA), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Porto Alegre (RS), Palmas (TO), São Luís (MA), Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE), São Luís (MA), Macapá (AP) and Teresina (PI). The Institute, through the IBGE Superintendency in Pará (SES-PA), carried out 35 consultations on the first day of the event, which will continue until this Friday, 5th, in the capital of Pará.

IBGE civil servants provide assistance to public managers from Pará at the Institute's stand at the Federative Caravan of Pará.

Managers who visited the institute's stand received guidance on IBGE surveys and studies, and informative materials such as the world map with Brazil at the center of the world, PAM (Municipal Agricultural Production), PPM Information (Municipal Livestock Production), Vital Statistics Information, Municipal GDP Information, PEVS Information (Forestry Activities), Quilombola Folder, Indigenous Folder, among other materials.

Among them, Renata Novaes, who is head of the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (SEMAS) of the municipality of Marituba, located in the Metropolitan Area of Belém. Opening ceremony

At the opening, minister Alexandre Padilha, host of the event and head of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations (SRI) of the Presidency of the Republic, was alongside Governor Helder Barbalho and Minister of Cities, Jáder Filho, and of Sports, André Fufuca and of and Tourism, Celso Sabino, and the mayor of Belém, Edmilson Rodrigues as well as several parliamentarians.

“When President Lula put me in charge of Institutional Relations, he asked me to recreate the relationship with the states and municipalities, and it is from this perspective that we created the Federative Caravan that arrives today in the 11th Brazilian state”, said the Minister, who visited the IBGE stand at the event, and highlighted that the Federative Caravan aims at bringing ministries and other bodies of the Federal Government closer to states and municipalities.

"The Caravan is another opportunity for us to present the results of the work carried out, and publicize the IBGE and its research and studies to the 144 municipalities in the State of Pará. At the same time, we take the opportunity to publicize Munic 2024, which begins in August , and has a direct relationship with city halls”, stated Rony Cordeiro, superintendent of IBGE in the state.

In Pará, the event has the support of the Federation of Associations of Municipalities of Pará (Famep), represented at the event by the mayor of Inhangapi (PA), Egilasio Feitosa. He expressed his satisfaction in being part of the event which, in his opinion, “will bear many fruits for Brazilian and Pará municipalism”.

When highlighting the importance of the Caravan as a “symbol of the Federal Government’s commitment to democracy and strengthening relations between federative entities”, the mayor of Belém, Edmilson Rodrigues, mentioned in his opening speech data from the 2022 Census on Literacy in Brazil, released by the IBGE in May.

In its eleventh edition, the Federative Caravan is an initiative of the Federal Government through the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the Presidency of the Republic, with a focus on bringing the government closer to states and municipalities, through the exchange of information and articulation of joint actions with public managers.
