Released today by the IBGE, the early inflation (IPCA-15) decelerated from 0.58% in October to 0.19% in November. This was the lowest figure for November since 2003, when the index stood at 0.17%. The cumulative index in the year stayed at 4.03% and, in the last 12 months, it reached 4.39%.

The biggest positive impact came from the group of food products, which changed from 0.44% in October to 0.54% in November, accounting for about 68% of the November´s rate.  On the other hand, the deceleration in the price of fuels, which changed from 4.74% in October to 0.69% in November, and the drops in health and personal care (-0.35%) and housing (-0.13%) helped to hold the rate.

 

The group of food products was influenced by the increase in the prices of consumption at home, which became 0.85% more expensive. The highlights were tomatoes (50.76%), potatoes (17.97%) and onion (10.01%). The drops came from long-life milk (-3.74%), ground coffee (-1.10%) and eggs (-0.45%).

The deceleration of fuels caused the group of transportation to change from 1.65% in October to 0.31% in November. Gasoline changed from 4.57% to 0.05%; ethanol, from 6.02% to 3.32%; and diesel fuel, from 5.71% to 1.38%. Having risen in the previous month, the prices of new cars (-0.38%), parts and pieces (-0.49%) and voluntary insurance of vehicles (-0.66%) also contributed to the drop.

The group of health and personal care recorded the highest negative change (-0.35%) and the biggest negative impact (-0.44 p.p.) in November. The highlights were pharmaceuticals (-0.28%) and items of personal hygiene (-2.56%), which became cheaper in November, after posting rises of 0.13% and 1.50%, respectively, in the previous month.

Having dropped 0.08% in October, the item electricity of housing (-0.13%) stepped up the downward pace with the change in the tariff flag, reaching -1.46%.  Having risen 0.46% in October, bottled gas fell 0.37% in November, even with the adjustment of 8.53% in the refineries, in force since November 6. 

Concerning the regional indexes, all the areas surveyed decelerated between October and November. The highest rise was in Goiânia (0.42%) and the lowest one, in the metropolitan area of Salvador (-0.03%), both influenced by electricity, whose changes were of 5.37% and -2.86%, respectively.
