The IBGE releases today, December 10, on the Internet, ten new political maps of 13 Federation Units, in different scales: Bahia; Ceará; Mato Grosso; Paraná; Pernambuco; Rio de Janeiro - Espírito Santo; Rio Grande do Norte - Paraíba; Rio Grande do Sul; Santa Catarina; Sergipe - Alagoas. This launch complements the set of 14 state maps produced by the Coordination of Cartography in the first semester, adding up to 24 maps representing the 27 Federation Units. All the maps of the state series are available here, in PDF format.

The political maps of states provide a comprehensive view of the geographic and political aspects of each Federation Unit. As a result, they are key to both public and private management, as well as to school activities. The maps also picture municipal, state and international boundaries, hydrological profiles, main road networks and municipal capitals, according to the current territorial division of Brazil and all the 5,570 municipalities. The maps were based on the Continuous Cartographic Base of Brazil - BCIM, to the millionth (1 cm = 10 km), December 2014 version.
