In August, National Index of Civil Construction changes by 0.79%

The National Index of Civil Construction (SINAPI) changed by 0.79% in August, and stood 0.48 percentage points (p.p.) above the July figure, 0.31%. The index of August is among the highest changes in the year, second to June only. The cumulative 12-month index is 5.42%, above 5.25% of the previous 12 months

The national cost of construction, by square meter, went from R$ 1,848.39 in July to R$ 1,863.00 in August, being R$ 1,064.10 for materials and R$ 798.90 for workforce.

The share of materials changed by 0.50%, with an increase from the previous month (0.23%). Against the August 2024 index (0.50%), the result remained stable.

The share of workforce, influenced by collective agreements signed in the period, changed by 1.18%, with an increase of 0.76 percentage points from July (0.42%). Against 2024 (0.81%), there was an increase of 0.37 percentage points.

The cumulative indexes from January to August were: 2.81% for materials and 5.73% for workforce. The cumulative indexes in 12 months were 4.91% for materials and 6.14% for workforce.

South Region records biggest monthly change in August

The South Region, influenced by increases in workforce in all the states, accounted for the regional change in August, 2.19%. The remaining Major Regions recorded the following results: 0.73% (North), 0.36% (Northeast), 0.65% (Southeast) and 0.81% (Central West).

In August, Mato Grosso do Sul records biggest increase

With an increase in materials and a collective agreement signed by professional categories, Mato Grosso do Sul was the state with the highest rate in August, 2.97%, followed by Paraná (2.79%) and Rio Grande do Sul (2.66%), also influenced by price adjustments in the workforce sector.
