In January, National Index of Civil Construction changes by 0.51%

The National Index of Civil Construction (SINAPI) changed by 0.51% in January, and stood 0.30 percentage points above the index of December (0.21%), and opened the year with a rate above 0.32 percentage points that of a year ago (0.19% - January 2024). The last 12 months reached 4.31%, a result above the 3.98% registered in the previous 12 months.

The national cost of construction, by square meter, which closed December at R$ 1,790.66, reached R$ 1,799.82 in January, being R$ 1,036,80 relative to material and R$ 763.02 to workforce.

Materials changed by 0.18%, with a drop of 0.15 percentage points from December (0.33%). Considering the index of January 2024 (0.14%), there was an increase of 0.04 percentage points.

Workforce, with a rate of 0.97%, driven by the rise of the minimum wage, increased by 0.91 percentage points from the previous month (0.06%). Considering the January 2024 index  (0.27%), there was an increaase of 0.70 percentage points. The cumulative result in the last 12 months stood at 3.36% for materials and 5.63% for workforce. 

Northeast Region records biggest monthly change in January  

The Northeast Region, with a increases in eight of the nive states, where Piauí (2.07%) stands out, driven by the adjustment of professional categories, with the biggest regional change in January (0.61%). The other Major Regions recorded the following results: 0.48% (North), 0.55% (Southeast), 0.38% (South) and 0.30% (Central West). 

In January, Amapá records buggest increase

With increase in both materials and professional categories, Amapá was the state with the biggest increase in the first month of the year, 2.89%.
