Slaughter of cattle, hogs and pigs and chickens up in Q4 2024

The first results of livestock production in Q4 2024 indicate increase of cattle slaughter (3.5%) against the same period in 2023 and a drop of 8.6% from Q3 2024.
Slaughter of hogs and pigs and if chickens increased by 0.6% and 5.3%, respectively, against the same period in 2023. From Q3 2023, slaughter of hogs and pigs dropped by 4.8% and that of chickens, by 0.7%.
In Q4 2024, acquisition of raw milk reached 6.75 billion liters, an increase of 4.1% againt the volume in Q4 2023 and of 7.3% from the previous quarter.
Acquisition of rawhide by tanneries increased by 10.1% against Q4 2023 and fell by 6.6% against Q3 2024, resulting in 9.85 million cowhide pieces.
In Q4 2024, 1.19 billion dozen eggs were produced, an increase of 11.0% against the same period in the previous year and a drop of 0.8% against the 3rd quarter of 2024.
Cattle slaughter increased by 3.5% from Q4 2023
In Q4 2024, 9.48 million cattle head were slaughtered in places under some type of sanitary inspection. Against the same period a year before, this figure represents a positive change of 3.5% and, against Q3 2024, there was a drop of 8.6%.
The production of 2.48 million tonnes of cattle carcasse in Q4 2024 increased by 1.8% against the same quarter in 2023 and decreased by 9.9% against the total in Q3 2024.
In Q3 2024, slaughter of hogs and pigs amounted to 14.23 milion head
A total of 14.23 million head of hogs and pigs were slaughtered in Q4 2024, representing an increase of 0.6% against the same period in 2023 and a drop of 4.8% against Q3 2024.
The cumulative weight of carcass amounted to 1.31 million tonnes in Q4 2024, representing an increase of 0.6% efrom Q4 2023 and a drop of 6.8% against the previous quarter.
Slaughter of chickens records increase of 5.3% from the same perio in 2023
In Q4 2024, a atotal of 1.61 billion head of chickens were slaughtered, representing an increase of 5.3% from the same period in 2023 and a drop of 0.7% against Q3 2024.
The cumulative weight of carcass was 3.35 million tonnes in Q4 2024. That represents an increase of 5.1% from Q4 2023 and a drop of 3.4% against the previous quarter.
Acquisition of milk increased by 4.1% in the annual comparison
In Q4 2024, the acquisition of raw milk by establishments under (federal, state or municipal) sanitary inspection, reached 6.75 billion liters.
This figure corresponds to an increase of 4.1% against the volume acquired in Q4 2023 and of 7.3% against that obtained in the immediately previous quarter.
From Q4 2023, acquisition of leather increases by 10.1%
Tanneries surveyed by the Monthly Survey of Leather Production in Q4 2024 reported having received 9.85 million rawhide pieces.
The amount represents an increase of 10.1% against that in Q4 2023 and a decrease of 6.6% from Q3 2024.
Production of hen eggs reaches 1.19 billion dozen
The production of hen eggs amounted to 1.19 billion dozen in Q4 2024. That represents an increment of 11.0% againt the same period in the previous year and a drop of 0.8% against Q3 2024.
