In August, National Index of Civil Construction increases by 0.63%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed by 0.63% in August, and stood at 0.23 percentage points above the July index (0.40%). this rate is the highest since August 2022. The index for the last 12 months was 3.12%, a result above the 2.66% registered in the immediately previous 12 months. The index of August 2023 was 0.18%

The national cost of construction, by square meter, changed from R$ 1,756.01 in July to R$ 1,767.09, in August, being R$ 1,014.31 relative to material and R$ 752.78 to workforce. 

Materials, with a rate of 0.50%, increased significantly both from the previous month (0.30%) and against the result of August 2023 (-0.14%), 0.20 and 0.64 pecentage points, respectively.  This rate is the highest in this segment since October 2022.

Workforce, with an index of 0.81%, and two collective agreements signed, also recorded increases both from July (0.53%), and from August a year ago (0.64%), 0.28 and 0.17 percentage points, respectively.

From January to August, the cumulative indexes were: 1.26% (materials) and 4.49% (workforce). the cumulative indexes in twelve months stood at 1.41% (materials) and 5.53% (workforce), respectively.

South Region egião Sul has biggest monthly increase in July

The South Region, influenced by rises in the professional categories of its three states, accounted for the biggest regional change in August, 1.82%. The other Major Regions had the following results: 0.41% (North), 0.38% (Northeast), 0.58% (Southeast) and 0.14% (Central West).

In August, Paraná records biggest increase

With an increase in professional categories, Paraná was the state with the highest rate in August, 2.84%, followed by Rio Grande do Sul, 1.42%, under the same conditions.

Created in 1969, SINAPI has the objective of producing systematic information on costs and indexes of national coverage, aiming at the elaboration and assessment of budgets, as well as the monitoring iof costs.
